TVC Championships @ Shepherd High School

Our boys and girls track teams traveled to Shepherd High School yesterday for our conference championship meet.  The boys team took second behind a very balanced Shepherd boys team.  The girls narrowly lost to a favored Shepherd girls team by 2.5 points.  Along with both teams second place finishes came a ton of impressive performances on the night.  The coaching staff would like to acknowledge our individual conference champions.  Starting on the boys side; Darren Bila – 3200 Run, Noah Klopf 110 Hurdles, Noah Klopf 300 Hurdles, and Noah Klopf in the long jump.  Girls conference champions were; 4×800 relay team of Peyton Hansen , Kiera Hansen, Mara Longenecker, Whitney Farrell, Kiera Hansen – 3200 run, Abby Youngstrom – 100 Hurdles, Kirsten Spegel – Shot Put, and Kaela Gregory – High Jump.  Next we would like to celebrate athletes earning all-conference honors; Gage Fitzgerald – 2nd 400 dash, Ben Wellnitz – 3rd 800 run, Darren Bila – 4th 1600 run, Easton Armstrong – 3rd 100 hurdles, Keaton Knochel – 4th 100 Hurdles, Easton Armstrong – 3rd 300 hurdles, 4×200 relay (Klopf, Townsend, Knochel, Hulbert) – 3rd, 4×400 relay (Fitzgerald, Robins, Townsend, Hulbert) 3rd, 4×800 Relay (Wellnitz, Wurtzel, Whyte, Fournier) 3rd, Vinny Kowalski – 4th Shot Put, Alex Robins – 2nd High Jump, Jack Townsend – 2nd Long Jump, Alex Robins – 4th Long Jump, Caitlinn Pistro – 4th 100 dash, Caitlinn Pistro – 4th 200 dash, Abby Youngstrom – 3rd 400 dash, Mara Longenecker – 4th 400 dash, Whitney Farrell – 4th 800 run, Kiera Hansen – 2nd 1600 run, Whitney Farrell – 4th 1600 run, Madison O’Deay – 4th 3200 run, Lydia Klopf – 2nd 100 hurdles, Lydia Klopf – 3rd 300 hurdles, 4×200 relay (Youngstrom, Gregory, Mieske, Pistro) – 2nd, 4×400 relay (Hansen, Graham, Mieske, Longenecker) – 2nd, Caitlinn Pistro – 3rd Long Jump, Caitlyn Mieske – 4th Long Jump.


In summary the boys team had individual all-conference finishes in 12 out of 17 events and the girls had all-conference finishes in 15 out of 17 events.  Combined both teams celebrate 12 conference champions, and 6 runner-ups.  The coaching staff is very proud of both teams hard work all season long.  The Falcons host the Saginaw County Championships on Tuesday, May 28th.  This is a showcase meet with only the best in Saginaw County qualifying and the Falcons will be represented in several events.  Field event begin at 4:00pm with running events following at 5:30pm.
