Ninth ranked Freeland played like a top 10 team tonight in the Class B district semifinal against Bullock Creek with 3 straight wins 25-6, 25-8 and 25-9 at Bangor John Glenn High School.
After a slow start and a 3-3 tie in set 1, Freeland quickly found its rhythm and 21-5 lead after a Taylor Bakos kill. Four more service points and an ace by junior Madison Wegner brought a quick end to the set for the Lancers.
Three more service aces by senior Noelle Duley gave the Falcons a 21-6 cushion in set 2. Continued strong serving and error free defense gave the TVC Central champions a 17 point win. In the final set, 2 service aces by sophomore Caitlin Pistro gave the Falcons a 7-1 lead and another ace by Hannah Ruppel increased the margin to 21-8 before Freeland cruised to a 3 set win.
Freeland was led by Noelle Duley and Taylor Bakos with 9 kills each, Duley with 6 aces and Betsy Cook with 30 assists and 1 block. The Falcons improve to 49-9-2 and will play in the district final against the conference rival Swan Valley who swept host John Glenn in the second match of the night. Final match will take place Thursday at John Glenn slated to begin at 6:00 pm.
