Freeland’s boys golf team qualified for its first state golf tournament in 13 years by finishing 3rd on Wednesday at Twin Brooks Golf Course in Chesaning. The team shot a score of 327 finishing behind Lansing Catholic Central (306) and Tawas (322).
Ben Balen led the Falcons with a 74, which was the second best overall score for the day. Jon Lelo finished with an 82, Spencer Kloc had an 83, Derek Miner finished with an 88 and Nick Hare finished with a 97.
The state meet will be held next Friday and Saturday at Forest Acres East in East Lansing, with each team golfing 18 holes on each day to determine the champion.
