Hemlock Invite

This past Friday both the men’s and women’s teams traveled to Hemlock to run in their annual invitational. This particular invitational is unique from others. Instead of a true team race the athletes race against other athletes of the same grade. The awards are then handed out to the top 7 freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior finishers of each gender. Both the men’s and women’s ran exceptionally well. Athletes that had run this course last year, on average, ran 2-3 minutes faster than the start of their 2016 seasons. The runners on the team that made their high school cross-country debuts started the season off with performances that are going to make for an exciting season moving forward.
We did have 7 individuals medal at the invitational. Receiving medals were; Hannah Neiderquell finishing in 3rd place in the freshmen race, Hope Kloha finishing in 4th place in the freshmen race, Caitlyn Mieske finishing in 6th place in the freshmen race, Madison O’Deay finishing in 2nd place in the junior race, Abby Youngstrom finishing in 5th place in the junior race, Darren Bila finishing in 2nd place in the junior race, and Matt Tetloff finishing in 3rd place in the junior race.
The coaching staff was impressed with the team’s performances and is already looking forward to our next competition. Both teams are back in action this Thursday, August 24th at Taymouth Township Park in Birch Run. The girls are scheduled to run at 4:15 and the boys race is scheduled for 4:45. Come out and support your Falcons!
